New forum members are very welcome and encouraged to take a guess. After all, there are no wrong guesses, just one lucky one. No one knows the winning bid on any auction until it ends. However, it is important to get your guess in before someone else grabs your guess.

Just listed in a 7 day auction with no reserve and starting at a pricey $495.00 is an American Bell nickel plated candlestick with, unfortunately, a dinged up OST receiver. But, within the first two hours of being listed, the auction attracted 1 bidder so this auction will go to completion and we should have a winner. Question is, who will that be and what will they have guessed? I have a feeling there will be some price escalation over the next 7 days.

NOTE: we will use an $30 gap rule between guesses to prevent crowding. As such, keep your guess at least $30 away from prior guesses for this contest. That would be about a 3% gap for this phone and it makes it easier to place your guesses.

So, once again, who best knows what this phone will sell for when the actions ends?

The seller listed it as an "RARE Antique 1890s American Bell Nickel Plated Brass Candlestick Telephone" with the item condition as "Used" and " - - - " with the auction listing description saying "This auction is for a Rare Antique Candlestick Telephone from the American Bell Telephone Company. This telephone has a nickel plated brass base, stem, receiver hook and mouthpiece base. The phone is completed with a black bakelite receiver does not include a mouthpiece or cord. Reciever has a crack in the bakelite. Back of the telephone is marked with "Property of The American Bell Telephone Company. Patented July 9, 89. Nov. 17, 91. Nov. 1, 92." Just under the mouthpiece on the front is a plaque that reads "*229*". The telephone has not been tested; but it is in great shape for its age. This would make a great addition to any telephone or general antique collection! There are some black scuff marks around the top of the base. General wear to the plating from age. No dents or dings. Overall in VERY GOOD condition."

About a day and a half to get guesses in.

Price has moved up a bit since listed.

I should have put "tapered shaft" somewhere in the title or description since that is what it seems to be.

Anyway, should be fun to watch the last minute of this auction with 5 bidders having placed one bid each so far.
