UK:  Some telephone kiosks were sold off to other telecom operators, but as British Telecom had copyright for the design, only telephone kiosks owned by BT could be red. All others had to be painted in a different colour, hence the black telephone kiosks.

Does anyone know the name of this open style telephone kiosk?

Interesting design CJ, the open booth there. Have never seen one in situ. It is rather an echo of the K boxes with the domed roof and side windows.

Here's a photo from the 1980s of a K6 in Leytonstone High St, London. Visible in the background is a branch of the excellent Pollards...a now defunct chain of bargain goods shops... a flannel undergarments, table cloths & teatowels type of establishment.

Also an Edinburgh Police Call Box now transformed into a coffee bar and a small Police Call Box in Eastcheap, City of London, 1970s...

In the photo above, the building to the left is a church,
St Dunstan-in-the-East, London EC3.

Same location shown on Streetview, July 2022...no sign of a police call box.

Sadly, no longer the 'pretty corner' it once was.
Osmington, Weymouth, UK.

Looks like a vehicle possibly took the corner at speed not too much earlier than the Google van did it's drive by.

Poor old K6.
