I need a new line switch actuator for a North Electric 541 desk set.  This is the North phone that is their interpretation of the 500.  Nobody seems to have any.  Can anybody make me one?  They are made of Masonite, so they can't be glued back together and stay together.  Here is a picture of it.

How thick is it? I might have a piece of flat fiberglass that might work better than masonite.   If you have a coping or scroll saw, you can cut that out yourself. I can mail a small piece in a regular envelope if you are in the USA.
PM your address.

It is 3/32 thick, 1 and 1/4 inches long, and 1/2 inch wide.  I don't have a coping or scroll saw, but I can file fibreglass into shape.  See attachment.

You could probably use one out of a WE 500 also.

Thanks for paying it forward Howard. That is in the spirit if this forum and our hobby in general. When I started in this hobby people were very generous with time, advice and parts. I try to pas it on every chance I get. Glad to see others doing the same!

I was just thinking that North's version of the 500 had a model number of 541.

There were several model numbers of interest in North's 540 series.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I have the same problem that Mike had 2 years ago. I also have a North 541 that has a broken fiberboard hookswitch actuator.

Does anyone have one of these parts available, or perhaps have a junker 541 with a viable hookswitch?  Thanks!

You should be able to repair that with cyanoacrylate glue.

Or JB Weld. I would add a few strands of fine copper wire to stiffen it up.
