I picked these up and today's automotive swapmeet.  I have always wanted an AE-50.  I think the other is a 553 but haven't even had a chance to really look them over yet.  I have no idea why I picked up the watchmaster????

Story of my life.  Maybe because you like cool old things.

Good job on the AE 50!  and the hotel phone.  It is a 553 if it is sidetone, or a 653 if it is antisidetone.  Generally speaking a 553 would be an earlier vintage than the 653.

I thought those were called apartment phones because it has the door buzzer and janitor button, whereas a hotel phone was just a square box type, or maybe I have my terms mixed up.  I have a couple of them and a couple of hotel phones.  One of my hotel phones was "frankend" by a previous owner with an AE dial and other parts.
The idea that a four-year degree is the only path to worthwhile knowledge is insane.
