Title: still another new member from sunny Southern California, with a question...
Post by: shortrackskater on January 20, 2015, 08:21:13 PM
Hi Everyone!
I'm new here. I already my first question answer, on my condenser.
I know nearly nothing about telephones other than, when I was about 11, I was screwing with wiring on the phone when it rang!
OUCH! Well it wasn't that bad, but it woke me up!  ;D
My question is: Is there a section here that just explains how a phone works, and also shows the parts/identifying features of the phone and maybe things like the different lettering on the transformer thingy?
Thanks!

A good reference book is "Old Time Telephones" by Ralph Meyer.  It's reviewed here:

You can take a basic course with comments from the author here:

Another source is mentioned here:

There are, of course, numerous other basic telephone reference books.

Thanks Paul!
I'll look those up.
