I remember seeing one a while back about "The Brown Ring of Quality"(Lucent's logo) being the ring left on a napkin from a coffee cup.

Scott Adams,  the author of Dilbert, used to work for Pacific Bell in San Ramon, CA. I believe he was an ISDN product manager.  He left the company right before I transfered and started working in the same building. Conversations with several people that worked with him indicated that many of his characters were based on real people in his office.  I met the real secretary, and she looks much like the charactor in the comics, albeit a nice person.

I did finally got to meet Scott several times at one of the restaurants he owns.  He is real nice person and loves to talk telephone company shop.
