Next one with a line cord was the Stromberg-Carlson.

With apologies to those who are SC fans, but overall, I really dislike this phone.  For one, I don't like those style of switchhook plungers on ANY phone, there's just something really cheesy about them to me.

The rest of it - UGH!  It wasn't getting a dial tone, so the first thing I looked at was the receiver.  There wasn't one.  Neither was there a transmitter.  Both the handset and line cords are frayed and brittle, the covering was coming off in my hands.

It's a frequency ringer, and usually that's not a difficult thing to fix in most phones.  But NO, not this one!  WTH kind of a ringer set up is that?  And what's that hardened black gunk on the gongs?

The dial did not return freely.  I know some of y'all frown on this, but I gave it a shot of tuner lube to get it to rotate.  Doesn't dial out either.  No matter, I ain't wasting any time on it.  I don't like the way the dial is mounted either.

Yuck.
