Connecting Dialgizmo to Western Electric 554 (wall phone)

Does anyone think it would be helpful to have Comcast come out and change out my modem to see if that helps?  I noticed when I unplug the phone line from modem and plug it back in it resets it

Do you have, or can you borrow, another phone, whether rotary or Touch-Tone, to see if it keeps your phone line busied out (tied up)? If you call Comcast, they will probably charge you $60, even if the problem is theirs! They tried to bill me once after one of their techs left the cable TV connections loose in the box outside.

I never had this problem with the wall phone that was there previous to the rotary, but certainly willing to try...thank you
