Title: Hagenuk W49 conversion wall/table and ringer issue
Post by: funatic on December 28, 2015, 04:46:58 PM
Hi everybody from a newbie in Italy!! I have an Ericsson Cobra and an Hagenuk W49.

As per subject of the topic, I have some questions regarding the second one.
The phone is now in desk configuration: how can I modify it to wall version (step by step, please, including how to open the W49, possibly with some pictures), the fork position and the disc too I guess?
Another thing: the phone works perfectly calling and answering, but the ringer stopped working (nothing modified concerning the home system). There's anything I could do easily to check and maybe repair??
Thanks a lot in advance, kind regards!!
Alberto

Alberto,

Welcome to the forum.  I also have a German W49 which is currently configured for tabletop use.  To change the configuration, you will need to loosen, but not remove, the two screws on the back of the shell and the one on the front and then lift the shell off of the base.  Remove the two screws pointed to by the red arrows in the picture below to remove the cradle assembly.  The black piece at the green arrow will need to be rotated so that it points in the opposite direction.  The cradle assembly can then be rotated 180 deg and reattached to the shell.  Loosen the two screws pointed to by the blue arrows, twist the dial slightly to remove it from the shell, rotate it 180 deg, and then replace it.

Does the ringer clapper move at all when the ringer should be ringing?  Can you move it freely with your fingers?  It could be stuck.

Larry,
thank you very much for your kind reply.
I'll try asap.
Meanwhile, please do you have another picture to show me with the part of the ringer I should check?
Forgive me but I never opened my two old and loved phones!
Cheers from Italy,
Alberto

I found this page: link (http://telefon.de-n.de/w_49_-_details.html) which has pictures and information (in German) about the W49.  The second picture shows the base with the ringer in the center.  Make sure that the clapper pivots freely so that it can hit the gongs.  The third picture shows the inside of the shell configured for wall use.  I was apparently wrong about rotating the dial.  Only the sleeve part below the dial needs to be rotated.  I cannot read German, so I do not know what the text on the page says.

Larry,
thanks a lot once again!

Just to be sure: if I wanna change the configuration, I loose anyway (or I remove?) the two "blue" screws but then I only rotate 180° the sleeve around the dial, right?
