New forum members are very welcome and encouraged to take a guess. After all, there are no wrong guesses, just one lucky one. No one knows the winning bid on any auction until it ends. However, it is important to get your guess in before someone else grabs your guess.

Listed about 1 day ago in a 7 day auction with no reserve starting at $1.00 ( with thanks to a heads up from Fabius ) is what seems to be an original Lm-Ericsson HA250/20 (20 line) Telephone being shipped from Sweden with shipping over the pond stated as $75. It appears to be in very good condition and complete. The seller provided external photos and within the first day of being listed, the phone attracted 2 bidders placing 2 bids dramatically driving the price up to a high $2.25. It should go higher over the next 6 days but how high is always the question. So, once again, who best knows what this item will sell for when the auction ends?

NOTE:  We will use a $4 gap rule between guesses to prevent crowding. As such, keep your guess at least $4 away from prior guesses for this contest. All guesses, original and a single allowed revised guess if needed, must be submitted at least 24 hours before the auction ends.

The seller listed it as an "Lm Ericsson 20 Line Model HA250/20 Antique Telephone" with the item condition as "Used" and " - - - " and with the auction listing description saying simply " Lm Ericsson 20 Line - Model HA250/20  --  20 Lines -- Polished walnut -- Battery-Ringing Inter-Communication Table Telephone for Metallic Lines, with Hand Micro-Telephone No. 525 and Cord No. 2142."

And the winner of Auction Contest #257 is TelePlay, who with the 11th and final entry into the contest offered the winning guess of $347.50. That guess gave him his eighteenth auction contest win moving him up one rung in the Contest Standings.

The phone started at $1.00 and rose slowly to $140 during the first 6 days. About 10 hours before end time, it increased to about $230 until the last 30 minutes of the auction. Five bids were placed within the last 30 minutes but it was a last second snipe placed by
s***s ( 80 ) who with his/her first and only bid placed only 3 seconds before the auction ended that did the trick and let him take the phone home for $355.00. The auction saw 13 bidders placing 49 bids.

Thanks again to all who played. As always, there is only one way to get on the winner's board or move up a rung - you have to play to win.
