New forum members are very welcome and encouraged to take a guess. After all, there are no wrong guesses, just one lucky one. No one knows the winning bid on any auction until it ends. However, it is important to get your guess in before someone else grabs your guess.

Listed about 3 days ago in a 7 day auction with no reserve starting at $9.99 ( with thanks to Fabius for the suggestion ) is an 6/52 near date matching (ringer seems to be a few months off) WE 501 C/D with what appears to be original straight cords. From the internal and external images provided, the phone seems to be in good, but a bit dirty, physical condition including the base and feet. Since being listed, the phone has received 2 bids from 2 buyers raising the list price to $12. It will go higher but how much higher is always the question. So who best knows what this phone will sell for when the auction ends?

NOTE:  We will use a $3 gap rule between guesses to prevent crowding. As such, keep your guess at least $3 away from prior guesses for this contest. All guesses, original and a single allowed revised guess if needed, must be submitted at least 24 hours before the auction ends.

The seller listed it as an "Soft Plastic 1952 Western Electric 501 C/D Black Desk Telephone " with the item condition as "Used" and " - - - " and with the auction listing description saying "Very nice Western Electric 501. The base, housing, C3A ringer,  425 type network, G1 Bakelite handset, U1 receiver unit , T1 transmitter unit, H4BF cord and the 7A dial all have a date of 52. Fairly rare that an older set like this still has all of its original parts. Notice that it does have the earlier C3A ringer and  an early unmarked network . The dial moves freely. Both cords are in excellent condition. No cracks or chips, just minimal wear.  It has the earlier black switch hooks. The housing is made of Tenite / soft plastic  and has the date stamped inside."

I didn't see an equalizer on this phone.  When did the 425 B network first come out?

I didn't see an equalizer on this phone.  When did the 425 B network first come out?

It was about three to four months before this phone.
