I just spotted an Ericsson handset on eBay with a strange looking attachment. The seller states it is a microphone extender but I do not think so. It looks like it might be some sort of convoluted shoulder rest? Maybe one of our european members have seen this before? EBay link:

It looks like the small part, the one with the thick, green padding, fits over the other ear holding the receiver against the ear but allowing the person to hear through the opening in the green padded piece.
It's a head phone with the transmitter at the end of the arm.
That setup wouldn't work with an F1.
Bingo! You are correct, it goes over the head. Also I titled it wrong, it is listed as a headset not a handset.
