Title: Telephone Exchanges...Illinois Bell
Post by: Vacuumlad1650 on January 16, 2018, 08:42:53 PM
Hello phone Friends!

After some research at the local library, I found some Illinois Bell Telephone Number books for my town. I had been trying to find the old Exchange name, but to no avail. I could find "Plainfield" or Joliet" followed by 4 numbers, but not the exchange name. The oldest book was dated for 1923, and the newest was 1954.

Anyways does anyone have a listing that might show the exchange for Plainfield/Joliet Illinois? I COULD find GE6 in an old picture of our Ford Dealer (Our prefix is 436 to this day).

Thanks!
