Folks isn't the internet amazing, just found a picture of the old dear as TB13 (training bus 13) when she looked like this when I was grinding her gears about:

The 2nd pic is an early appearance at a bus rally 1982/3 when she had a cosmetic makeover.

Maybe white on the top to keep heat down. Red on the bottom for improved visibility for drivers buzzing around.  ??? ??? ???

the red is a form of maroon called "madder" so madder and white, been pretty much standard since the Corpoartion (local authority) took over the privately owned horse trams in 1919, the livery was inherited from one the previous horse tram companies.

A coach fleet was operated for some time till recently and from the late 50's were mainly white with black flashing, black and white (for whatever reason) being the civic colours of Edinburgh.
