Title: 1958 Pink; Went Too Low?
Post by: WEBellSystemChristian on December 08, 2015, 08:55:41 AM
I just won this one on eBay, which appears to be my first all-original soft Pink 500. The line cord was cut, but the strain relief clearly shows a late '50s date.

I was preparing this auction to go into the mid $100s, but only topped out at....$27.50.  ???

Aren't these more valuable than this, or are phone collectors just tired of seeing Pink 500s on eBay lately?

I'm not complaining, I got a great deal on a nice Soft Plastic Pink! This will be my 3rd one from '58!

Pink 500s are not rare and show up on eBay fairly often. But the price you paid was a good buy, especially for soft plastic.

I had that phone bookmarked. I'm glad it went to you and at a very good price. The auction picture of the entire phone wasn't very good and made the phone look orangey pink. But in the closeups you could see it wasn't that bad and Tenite isn't usually prone to fading to orange. More like the other end of the spectrum--white. It even looks like the coil cord isn't too faded.

I do agree with Fabius about them not being so rare. I think pink phones were sometimes saved because of their unique color. Also they were often bedroom phones that didn't see major use.

Please post some more pictures when it arrives and then after you get it cleaned up. I'm hoping for a hidden original card underneath the ANC one.

That orange pink, I believe,  is called a salmon pink.  It appears to be the color of the phone in all but the last two pictures.
