New forum members are very welcome and encouraged to take a guess. After all, there are no wrong guesses, just one lucky one. No one knows the winning bid on any auction until it ends. However, it is important to get your guess in before someone else grabs your guess.

Listed about 4 hours ago in a 7 day auction with no reserve starting at $8.00 ( with thanks to a heads up from Pourme ) is a very nice gold WE D1 Imperial with a dial blank and what seems to be a solid ivory grooveless handset with ivory coiled cord. It appears to be in relatively good condition with some plating missing on the D1 base and Dial Blank. The seller provided both external and internal photos and within the first few hours of being listed, the phone attracted 3 bidders placing 3 bids increasing the price to $8.00. It should go higher so, once again, the question is who best knows what this item will sell for when the auction ends?

NOTE:  We will use a $2 gap rule between guesses to prevent crowding. As such, keep your guess at least $2 away from prior guesses for this contest. All guesses, original and a single allowed revised guess if needed, must be submitted at least 24 hours before the auction ends.

The seller listed it as an "Telephone Bell System Western Electric Desk top phone Brass body As Is" with the item condition as "Used" and "Selling as is- untested- may (or may not) have a dialer at one time. Some scuffs, scratches and surface loss." and with the auction listing description saying "For sale is a vintage beige "BELL SYSTEM" telephone "MADE BY WETERN ELECTRIC".  Unsure about the dialing system for this phone- have seen none without a dial so am selling this one as is- likely for parts or rehab.  Bottom does come off easily (and made to do so) to reveal the mechanisms and wiring.  Have picture for viewing.  Made of brass and metal parts.  Plastic/ bakelite hand receiver with cloth wrapped wiring.  Base about 6" x 5". -- Receiver has dirty and stained areas.  Not cracked.  "BELL SYSTEM WESTERN ELECTRIC" stamping. Spring for hang up bar works smoothly. Surface loss on one end. Brass and metal body has wear with some surface loss.  Scratches but no dents. The base is stained (been sitting around for some time) but intact.  Taken off to reveal the wiring etc... I could not figure out if this ever was a dial phone or just direct pick up (maybe you know). Great addition to your collection or a little project... -- Please refer to the pictures and contact me if you have questions."
