Computer Telephone Company of Chicago. Scripophily

I collect telephone company stock certificates. The hobby of collecting stock/bond certificates is called Scripophily.

I have a certificate of the Computer Telephone Company of Chicago which has a picture of the inventor of the comput-a-phone. This is a fairly common certificate. Does anyone know anything about this company or about Peter james and his invention? A Google search finds nothing. Using the search on the Illinois Secretary of State web site also finds nothing.
