I think collectibles ebb and flow with the generations. Most people have some connection to what they collect because of a connection in childhood. I have no interest in phones before the 500, not because they aren't great phones, I just don't have that connection. Same with cars. The Tri-5 Chevys were popular when the generation that grew up with them could afford to buy them and fix them up. Now their value is nowhere near where it used to be.

I could be that the global economy is down. This may actually be a good time to grab some deals. As the economy picks up, the investment will grow. I've been able to get some really nice phones that would normally be out of my budget. Buy low, sell high.
