W.E. used what kind of 'Quarters?'

By that I mean, did they mark their equipment with "calendar" of "fiscal year" quarters?  This makes a notable if relatively minor difference, for example, in dating a piece of equipment like a dial or dial face.  I.E., a dial dated II-36 would be dated to April-June, 1936 if W.E. used a calendar year to assign quarters, but, dated to Oct.-Dec. 1935 if W.E. used a "fiscal" year (Fiscal Years routinely ran from 1st July to 30th June in old America).  Any thoughts/help?  Many thanks!

I'd like to know that for myself, it may answer a few discrepancies we've run into on dates.
