I just took the receiver cap off of my '53 500 to check out the transmitter capsule.  I guess it never occurred to me until now, but that capsule was tested four times after it was initially manufactured in January of 1956.  That date is in black ink.  The rest are in vermillion:  359T, 1160T, 1260T (weird) and 663T.  There is no more room around the circumference for any more test dates.

So I wondered about two things.  1) What would WE have done if this thing came back in and tested good enough to redeploy?  and 2) Do any forum members have similar situations with any of their components?

I don't think I've ever seen a part with five dates on it until now.

Anybody else have re-re-re-recycled parts to report here?  It might be fun to find all that type of parts and slowly build the most thoroughly recycled phone ever!

I have an old 1949 500 base you can use to mount it all to.

Just kidding.

LOL!  I guess the idea of enough dates plastered all over a phone to make a guy's head spin doesn't set well with the matching dates sector, huh?
