I am attempting to rewire a 300 series wall phone I acquired a couple months ago.  I was confused because the phone seems to have an extra set of switches with a pair of slate red wires coming from it.  Of course my reference phone is a 356.  I don't actually have a 354 at the moment. If I recall the phone worked before I disassembled it for cleaning.  What is going on? What is it and how do I rewire it?

I haven't been able to find a schematic with the six wire switch, but check C32.523, and maybe you can decipher the correct connections from the cording diagram:

The 354 in the TCI Library has a six wire switch. > http://www.telephonecollectors.info/index.php?option=com_docman&task=doc_details&gid=2305&Itemid=11 < If that don't help do you have some pictures of your phone?

Thanks everyone. The hole in the side for the cut off switch had was a red herring.  I figured it out-the extra slate-red wire is actually the red-green wire faded to slate-red.  Doh!!!
