New forum members are very welcome and encouraged to take a guess. After all, there are no wrong guesses, just one lucky one. No one knows the winning bid on any auction until it ends. However, it is important to get your guess in before someone else grabs your guess.

Listed about 12 hours ago in a 5 day auction with no reserve and starting at $19.99 is this supposedly rare Colonial Blue AE 80 with black coiled handset cord and a thick blue line cord with 4 pin connector. The seller has posted a few photos, with none of the internals, so the listing has a few unknowns. The phone received the initial opening bid so it will sell. But, for how much is the big question. So, who best knows what the phone will sell for when the auction ends?

This is a 5 days auction with only 4 days left so there are only about 3 days left for getting your guesses in.

NOTE: we will use a $5 gap rule between guesses again to prevent crowding. As such, keep your guess at least $5 away from prior guesses for this contest.

The seller listed it as an "Beaitiful very rare country blue Automatic Electric AE80", the item condition as " - - - " and " - - - " and with the auction listing description saying simply "Very nice beautiful and very rare color county blue color Automatic Electric AE80. I have only seen this color on this phone one other time. This phone has not been painted, this is the color of the plastic. Phone is in very good condition and worked the last time I was able to check with a landline, so being sold as is."

Ooh, Colonial Blue AE80, the hardest to find color for AE80's except maybe clear. AE90 wall phones came out just long enough after the AE80 that Colonial Blue was "almost discontinued" by then. I say "almost" because eventually an AE90 in Colonial Blue was discovered in a collectors hands. Not my hands though..... $&@!?

$670

A phone phanatic since I was less than 2 (thanks to Fisher Price); collector since a teenager; now able to afford to play!
Favorite Phone: Western Electric Trimline - it just feels right holding it up to my face!

I took some of the blue out of the images. Is this closer to Colonial Blue?

If so, let me know by PM and I will swap out the contest pictures with these.

If not, send me a link to a correct shade of blue phone and I will try to match colors better.

Its very hard to tell John. I get such different colours between my laptop and my iPad even. I would leave it as is, it is just different lighting that makes the auction pictures quite bright.

Terry,

I added those two "less blue" images to the contest so both, the more blue and the less blue can be seen sort of side by side.

Also, I'm surprised this phone hasn't had much bidding so far, only 4 bids and it's sitting at $21. It that due to the difference between "A" and "W" as in AE vs. WE telephones, meaning less AE demand?
