I can't add a photo via this device, but letter format on centre is ABCFHIKL(?)MR.
I've looked online but I can't find a match.

Thanks

Thanks for reply, but not a match. Not the same letters or order.
Also numbers are in usual order, not reverse.

The mystery remains...

Thanks all, and thanks for the links, they helped enormously.
Well done Larry - Czechoslovakian.

Is that photo from a Siemens W28 (probably actually a Tist 66) that was on eBay the other day.
Did you buy it, as my speculative bid put the price up a bit if you did (sorry!)?
:)

FABphones

I didn't buy or bid so no probs. :D
I decided against it for several reasons but was interested to know about the numbering, it all adds to my knowledge for another time.
What would you have done with that paintwork if you had won it?

It was hard to tell just how bad the paintwork was as the photos were pretty poor - hence my low bid.
I don't generally repaint if I can at all help it (partly because my painting skills aren't too good!) as I like things to be as original as possible.
If I had got it cheap enough and the paint was bad I might have had a go.
:)

FABphones

Exactly the same thoughts here.
If paint was v poor I would have been very tempted to try out the oven baked paint restoration tips on this site.

For the benefit of other members, here is the the phone we are talking about.

FABphones

Thanks tubaman, I haven't figured out how to add eBay screen shots to threads yet.
