Happy Thanksgiving to one and all, even those that don't celebrate Thanksgiving on this day like we do here in the the United States.  No matter how many "curve balls" life throws at us, I think we can all find something or many things to be thankful for, not just today but everyday.

Enjoy the day!

My early Thanksgiving memories involved mom cooking for what seemed like days, and being rather frazzled.  Dad and grandpa would always argue about something, often heatedly, and after the meal they ended up taking naps, dad in his recliner and grandpa on the couch.  Having to eat turkey which was never on my top 10 list of foods, along with a bunch of other foods that I really did not like at all, such as that purple stuff from a can, the weird breaded stuff in the turkey, and pumpkin pie.  At least there was mashed potatoes, that helped.

Of course now I like all that weird Thanksgiving food, even the purple canned stuff.

Happy Thanksgiving all.

I try to be thankful, even for the negative aspects of life, because I usually learn something from them.
Everyone please have a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving Day.
May God richly bless you, each and every day.

Hello,
Want to wish all my American friends and members on this fourm a very Happy Thanksgiving Day. When we see all the crap happening in other countries we have an awlful lot to be thankful for. I'm only 20 minutes from the Vermont border so I'll be heading down there for supper with my uncle and his family. A very special thanks to our men and women serving in the Armed Forces who help keep our countries free !!! BTW our Thanksgiving holiday is in October. God bless you all, Jiggerman

I wish all of you a very safe and happy Thanksgiving, full of good things to eat, with family all around you.

I've already made my persimmon pudding, a Southern delicacy, from persimmons gathered from under my uncle's tree. I always take him some to say thanks for letting me get them. Anyone else ever heard of persimmon pudding?

I'm celebrating at lunch with the immediate family and then in the evening we will gather in my grandmother's basement, now my aunt's, where we've celebrated annually since 1955 (before I was born). I make the Cheerwine punch. Another Southern delicacy.

If you have family spread far and wide, use one of your old phones to call them. Reach out and touch someone, as Ma Bell used to say.

I would also like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving day.  I hope your travels are all safe and that everyone is able to spend time with family and/or friends.

Jonathan I have heard of persimmons but not persimmon pudding.  Could you e-mail me some?  It sounds like you are having a real "traditional" Thanksgiving.  Enjoy!

My family is spread out across this half of the country, so I will be reaching out via the telephone.   I have siblings in Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Texas and Kentucky.  Only my brother and I remain in Michigan.  I guess this is the time of year we pay for beautiful summers.  They all like that hot weather south of the Mason-Dixon line.

Did anyone notice the dates these are said to be posted ? Some are dated Saturday upcoming ?
I didn't remember posting my comment until I realized it was last years post. Well this is neat because we have Thanksgiving every year it is always current....
Have A Wonderful Day.

Lets start a tradition of adding to this each year, we can reminisce former years comments and best wishes.

Dan, I absolutely did not notice that.  I guess Russ' first comment of "restarting" the topic was the clue.  Good idea to add to it each year.

I am reviving the annual Thanksgiving Day thread early this year for us Canadians who all celebrate tomorrow Monday Oct 8th. Then we can resurect this trhead again next month for you South of the 49th parallel folks.

And remind me again those of you in other countries, do you celebrate Thanksgiving or something equivilent? And if so, what time of the year. Canada is the 2nd Monday in October.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of my fellow Canadians! Everyone will get together at my Mom's place for Turkey tomorrow!

Too bad they don't sell antique phones on Black FridayThusrsday.

Happy Thanksgiving to all, even those in Canada, Mexico, the UK, the Netherlands, and wherever else you may be!

I'll bet I'm a bigger newbie than you are.  :-)

A small part of my Thanksgiving yesterday was spent making a final determination that I wanted to equip my little cheap country house with a bunch of Model 302's.

So I'll be joining you lunatics very soon.

One 302 installed, one on the way and almost in use, and bidding on a third. The one I'm bidding on is going to require restoration, so it'll also be my first hands on tackling of such a  thing.

Today I am visiting my son and grandkids.  Weather is sunny and about 55 Degrees.  Portland, OR is usually grey and rainy this time of year.  Can't wait for dinner!

Happy Thanksgiving to all US folks, and to everyone else, well, happy 28th of November!  Canada already had their's last month.  :)

Stay safe, everyone and drive carefully, and don't get run over at the malls on Black Friday, which in most places will start this evening.  Yuck.

We did the same.  Her family is in Canada, mine is dysfunctional, so it works out great during the holidays.  We cooked everything ourselves (except for the pie), which was a feat because we don't cook much.

Three Fantastic children, Four Loving Grand children, (with one on the way) who never ask Grampy whats behind that closed (locked) door.  8)

A job that I can do.....even like at my advanced age.

A green lawn on Thanksgiving! Yes everything else is dead.

Happy Thanksgiving from NC where it's a balmy 71 degrees! In an hour I'll be going over the river (the Yadkin) and through the wood to grandmother's house, where we've had Thanksgiving every year in that basement since her 1954 500 set was brand new (before I was born).

Traditions are big in my family. I make the Cheerwine punch every year. It's a dark red cherry soda with a whole lot of carbonation, bottled in Salisbury, NC.

Wow, my 7th Thanksgiving on this forum!  I see, though, that I didn't chime in when this topic first came up in 2010, but I did in 2011.  Happy turkey day to all.  We are just getting the cooking underway, but I have been running around the kitchen "sampling", as it were.  To all that are not in the US, have a great Thursday any way!  :)

I ate two whole pies this Thanksgiving.  One was a chocolate pie.  The other was a lemon pie.  Both were very good.  Just what I needed to finish off a meal of ham, turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, and cranberry sauce.

Happy Thanksgiving to my friends on the Forum. I have many things to be thankful for, a wonderful wife, great children who make the old man proud and five grandchildren who "try" to keep me young. I still have a job to go to that I love. I am a happy man and thankful for what I have....Doug

A happy and prosorous day to all regardless of where you are on this particular day . . .

This photo of the sun rising over a cloud bank on Lake Michigan this morning seems to have the traditional colors of the day. Posted here for those who have never had an opportunity to see a sun rise on a fall day over a calm great Lake Michigan (click on it to enlarge).

And, of course, the traditional bird . . .

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. (Even if like me, you aren't in the USA).

Well said Doug!

Great picture John. That must have been a very difficult shot to get. I mean...the patience and timing involved. How you could get a turkey to stay still long enough while for a picture while it was wearing a Pilgrims hat is beyond me.

Nice picture of the sunrise as well.

"Happy Thanksgiving to one and all, even those that don't celebrate Thanksgiving on this day like we do here in the the United States.  No matter how many "curve balls" life throws at us, I think we can all find something or many things to be thankful for, not just today but everyday. Enjoy the day!

Happy Thanksgiving! Truly a day too count our Blessings. I have a wonderful wife,  three great kids and their spouses. Five wonderful Grandchildren with one on the way  ;D.

A job I love...that I can still perform at one month away from 65. A great place to live in a Country I love.

For today, everyone in my family is healthy.

For this, I am thankful....Doug

Happy Thanksgiving! I have a lot to be thankful for, even though we have a very scaled down Dinner, it is Family that matters.

We are having a Covid friendly day with just the people in our bubble.

Stay safe and healthy as 2020 blissfully comes to an end with the bright future of 2021 on the horizon.....Doug

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in the USA

Did our first thanksgiving with our 1959 GE Stratoliner Range.  After using this,  I couldnt imagine it any other way.  Broiler and oven.  did a great job.  that extra space on top sure helped too

First thanksgiving since my mom and grandma passed.  So i did up a meal with stuff they both used to make.

Thankful for friends family and these old phones which help keep many of us sane when the going gets tough :)

Nice old cooker, good to see them still in use.

Left to right, top to bottom, would you tell us what you made?

Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving.

That stove is a 1959 GE Stratoliner we got free this past summer.  Cooking thanksgiving dinner on that was exponentially because of the space it provided.  Love it.

16lb turkey lightly dusted with a bit of garlic powder, onion powder, butter and 2 strips of bacon on top
Deviled Eggs
Ham Cheese And onion ball-  which is cream cheese, green onion, bit of onion powder, diced ham all rolled up.
Mashed taters
gravy
stuffing
My grandmas baked mac and cheese. its just milk, butter, lots of cheese, salt and pepper, ritz crackers on top and baked.
