I just couldn't help myself, so I bought a second Dutch PTT Standard phone (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110503523191).  My other one is dated 1962, and this one is 1957.  There doesn't seem to be much demand for these, so they go for cheap on the the first or second bid.

I read on singing wires that these predated WE302's and inspired the creation of the 302. I like them too.

If in fact it is true that this phone predates the 302, Henry Dreyfus just moved down my popularity scale A LOT.
