Title: WE Modular wall plates and AE modular wall phones
Post by: markosjal on September 08, 2018, 02:13:01 PM
I thought I had asked this before but do not find it so maybe I did not.

Maybe this is a stupid querstion, however I remember seeing in my youth that GTE/AE modular wall plates had the stud mounts further apart than the WE modular wall plates.

However I also see some AE modular phones have an additional set  of holes.

Furthermore it seems there is a difference in how far the modular connector protrudes on the phone.

Will an AE modular wall phone properly connect to a WE wall plate?

Not if it has an AE plug. It is too long for the WE jack.

Some later AE phones have standard modular jack (rather than plug) on the base, correct? These would work with a short WE-style modular cord with WE plugs on each end.
