OLD AE40 without ringer, no dial tone.

My wonderful mommy snatched this old AE40 today for $17. 

WOWEE!!!!!   

She doesn't have a ringer..

I wired up to L1 and L2 and got nothing.....

I posted some pictures of what I've got.

The phone line is in use when I lift off hook. However, nothing is heard from the handset.

Could someone please help me?

Is the handset's transmitter element missing as is shown in your photos or is it in place when you lift the handset and listen for dialtone?  Here is a wiring diagram that you can use to check the wiring, though you should note that some of the wire color-codes may have changed through the years.

hey guys, I figured out it was just the handset cord. There was no conductivity between any of the leads!

I found a black 80 and stole the cord from it and swapped it over.

SHE WORKS!!!!!
