Each week on the TCI listserve they post the top 40 phones on eBay for that week.  I am going to try something different: the Bottom 40 phones on eBay.  These are the auctions that never receive any bids but have been re-listed several times over.  They are either overpriced, junk or both.  Here are a few to start, please help add to the list:

A long-time favorite, I hear the seller can be talked down to $50:

But it's from a car phone!!!

Two purchases...hmmm he may be on to something actually

Looking for a phone to match your cuckoo clock?  Look no further:

The 70s retro look is really hip these days, but has its limits...

Mint condition versions regularly sell for $8, but lack the shabby chic appeal:

That red 500 with no dial has been on forever.  I think he used to want $150 or something.

the third and fourth I always see it listed on eBay

That guy keeps relisting these with apparently few takers.  It's no wonder there aren't many people who would want one.  They're hideous.

Ah yeah, these textured things.  Had a "friend" who was into that in the mid 90's, putting texture paint all over everything, lamps, clocks, picture frames.  Guess they got ahold of these phones.  In my opinion such phones are parts phones, and they are thus overpriced by a good bit.

If at first you don't succeed...

List and list again.

What gets me are the listing you see over and over, and when you make a legitimate and fair offer, they get offended.

I have a local antique dealer who is like that.  I won an auction for a metal 304, and I paid a little more than usual because I could do a local pickup and skip S&H.  He had a manual thermoplastic 302, and when I asked him how much he quoted me a price that was double the price of the 304. ???

Yes, but they are also the guys that sell Mediterranean Blue 500's for $35. Ask Dennis.....

Not all of them are bad.  Just the ones who jack up the price when they see you are interested in something.

Dennis:

Are you taking the fifth too?  ;D

Too late to plead the Fifth for me. I've already made admissions as to my Antique Sale find.  Now if I could only find a blue 302 for 35!

Dan

Dennis, I am sure you saw this one a few days ago. Amazing what an uncracked one could go for....
