I saw 6 volt lantern batteries today at Home Depot. They were Everready and were $4.97.

These are not obsolete batteries. Highway flashing amber caution marker lights on barrels and barricades have changed from incandescent to LED bulbs but they still use the same style yellow plastic housings that hold a 6 volt battery.
