I saw 6 volt lantern batteries today at Home Depot. They were Everready and were $4.97.

These are not obsolete batteries. Highway flashing amber caution marker lights on barrels and barricades have changed from incandescent to LED bulbs but they still use the same style yellow plastic housings that hold a 6 volt battery.

Seller description:  "Our Contractor Grade Yellow LED Barricade Flashers are durable and battery efficient consuming a fraction of the battery power of older style lamps.

Two settings - Steady-On or Flash

Uses 6-Volt lantern battery (sold separately, or buy our Kit with Battery included)

Amber light controlled by a Photo-cell which turns off during the day to save battery life"

I see them in hardware stores for a few dollars more.
