For posterity, this was a 7 day auction on eBay that just ended. Sold for $930 plus $17 for shipping with 3 bidders (one of which put in the opening offer when the phone was listed at $19.99) offering 27 bids. No last minute snipe either. All that for a phone with several major defects as celnout stated in the item description. Is brown that valuable to command that price in that condition?

"An absolutely beautiful instrument. A/E 34s are hard enough to find anymore, but a Brown and Gold colored one.....impossible, but here it is! As pretty as it is with its gold accessories, the special designed fingerwheel and the woven cord, it is not without fault. The base housing has a crack in the left rear (see photos). The handle is cracked toward the receiver end. There is a chip on the dial plate. Even with its faults it will make a lovely display piece in your collection. Expect no miracles, it is sold "as-is". I was watching that auction too. Looks like a case of a few bidders who just had to have it.

They command a pretty good price and having the gold matte trim adds hundreds of dollars on its own. At least the mahogany and walnut sets don't have problems with shrinking like the other Colored sets do.
