Title: Clear WE Trimline
Post by: TransparentTrimline on January 24, 2023, 11:43:09 PM
I was browsing around for swirl trimline's and came across this Clear WE Trimline. It's much older than my clear trimline. Maybe it's fate that my collection will be entirely Clear Trimline's :P .

I had one at least 3 decades ago, but not with dial, touch-tone only. If I had known at the time what I know what it's worth today, I would have kept it :(

It would be a dream to get another one. But I'm feeling like its probably not a good idea. Maybe ill put my clear trimline on eBay if the grocery store doesn't lower their prices haha

Hello again all, been a long time since I posted but I actually ended up winning this trimline.

I have a suspicion that it was a lab prototype phone ( I could be wrong ) since all of the markings point to 1968 (the AD1 base has a date of 10-68 and the stamp in the handset is 12-68 ) and in the handset it has an IC for the tone gen that is clear.
On the last post of this thread I found some information that suggests that infact in 68' they were only testing the IC in phones

The thread (http://www.classicrotaryphones.com/forum/index.php?topic=15059.0)

And one other thing, this phone was shipped from only 20 miles away from Bell Labs.
I will Know more when it arrives and most likely start a thread on it in Collectors Corner.

The clear IC in the back.
The stamping in the handset "12-68 2220B 1-X"

Wow those are so cool!!
I love trimline phones and have a small growing collection but I've never seen a clear one. Only the RadioShack kind maybe.

You guys are so lucky!  8)
