Post your "Find of the Month" here.

A "Find of the Month" is a telephone or a related item that you acquired during the month that you are particularly excited about either because of its rarity, the difficulty you had in trying to find it for your collection or the exceptional "deal" that you got on it.

The "Find of the Month" contest is focused on the collection of telephones rather than on their sale for a profit. To be eligible for the "Find of the Month" contest:

- The finder must have personally acquired and actually own the item.
- The item can be acquired for free but it can not be a gift or present from anyone.
- The item (or any of its components) cannot be put up for sale during the contest period.
- Only one "Find" per owner can be in a "Find of the Month" contest.

A Nomination Should Include:

1) where and/or how the item was found.
2) the price & shipping cost.
3) the forum link to the topic discussing the find.
4) the eBay link if won there.
5) and other information of importance about the find.
6) one or two pictures of the item.

Ideally your item would be posted in its own thread elsewhere on the forum such as "Auction Talk", "Flea Market/Yard Sale Finds" or "Collectors Corner" Board. Then you or anyone else can nominate your "Find" to the Current "Find of the Month" thread by posting at least one picture and other details including the price paid, any shipping costs and a link to the original discussion on the forum. It is not a requirement that your find be posted elsewhere on the forum but the more details the better.

Nominations of phones listed in other forum discussion topics, by members that do not own the item but realize it is indeed a "find" worthy of being nominated as a "Find of the Month" candidate, are always welcome.

Please pick your best "Find" to submit for the month limiting your entry to one phone or one "Find" that might include limited multiple items. If you have already entered for the month and come up with something even better either submit your new find indicating that it replaces your previous entry OR you can enter your new Find in next months contest.

TelePlay has grabbed pictures of all of the "Find of the Month" winners since we started this back in 2010 and he has put them into albums on forum. Thanks John.  To check them out, click here:

<edit> I have moved this "Find" from dsk to January as he already has his Ericofon Cobra Phone in December 2017.

Terry

I just have to nominate this one
For me, this is the winner of the year: The Stavanger  Circuit.
This Circuit was solely made for use in Stavanger City, I have not a clue about why, but it is the last version of Circuit used on this design of telephones used in Norway, and now, I have them all  ;D

Not sure how common it is to collect circuits, but I do!

In addition this telephone has a ground button witch is pretty rare, and a dial with a number ring I never have seen nor heard about before I got this one.

Cost: NOK 400 ~$48 + shipping NOK 170 ~$20.5

Discussion on this phone is at this link:  http://www.classicrotaryphones.com/forum/index.php?topic=9998.msg199944#msg199944

So what model and manufacturer is that one dsk?

Monophone_Lover stumbled upon this Mahogany looking Thrift Store Find for about $65. In the end it's doubtful that it is Brown Bakelite but the jury is still out deliberating on the subject.

Terry

This one is made by Elektrisk Bureau in Norway the model is known here as 1932 referring to the  year of introduction of that bakelite design. It was actually: Designed by the Norwegians: Christian Bjerknes (idea 1930) and Jean Heiberg (artist) This one is mostly known as Ericsson DBH 1001 end that is the same. Elektrisk Bureau was partly owned by Ericsson.  What makes this so special is the Circuit!
The Circuit is known as the Stavanger Circuit, and was only made for this City with maybe 60000 citizens, and not many of those had telephones. Another unexpected bonus was the dial, never seen before, nor heard about with number under the dial, this came as standard in 1942, this dial is an earlier design.

Not sure where Terry is, sent him a PM about this, so will let him deal with it when he logs on.

The Find of the Month is intended to be a list of replies with each replay being one nomination of one phone or phone related item including one (maybe 2) images of the nomination and a link to another topic where the phone was first posted, a topic where discussion of the item is to take place, not in the FOTM nomination. This month is getting out of hand.

The FOTM Rules stated in the first post of each month to nominate an item clearly states:

A Nomination Should Include:

1) where and/or how the item was found.
2) the price & shipping cost.

3) the forum link to the topic discussing the find.
4) the eBay link if won there.
5) and other information of importance about the find.

6) one or two pictures of the item.

with #3 being the "rule" being abused in this month's "finds." The reason for this is so that when it is time to vote, members who want to vote (an unfortunately there are only 20 to 30 out of 2,000 who vote) will have a difficult time in this month to weed through all of the discussion to find the fruits.

In my opinion, if you think you have acquired a phone or phone item worthy of a find nomination, it is certainly worth of its own topic in Collector Corner or Antiques Store Finds or some other board first.

The point is to discuss the phone in its own topic and to place one reply in the FOTM as a nomination. Hopefully Terry can figure out a way to clean up or clean out this months tangents, red herrings and discussions. The FOTM is not intended to become a discussion area for nominated phones or phone items.

I would like to nominate Duffy's pristine, might even be new in box, hard wired yellow NE 500 for which he paid a mere $15 (US and not CDN I assume) at, apparently, a antique store or mall. That bottom is the cleanest, newest looking I've ever seen for a 1979 phone. Nothing to do with this phone except maybe a thin coat of polish . . .  ;)

A discussion of the phone is posted at this link:

WEBellSystemChristian

I'll nominate my White 10 Button Trimline that I found on ebay for $70 plus shipping.

Okay, BoBo has joined the circus and returned to the Big Top under Antique Store Finds:

The "Stavanger Circuit" is enroute Home, at Bergen currently and almost home! We loved our visit to Stavanger on a cruise by the way!

Thanks John,

Just a couple of corrections. I paid $15.00 CDN from a little old lady ( in her 80's ) and bought it in November 2017.  :-[

So with being said I can not have this phone entered in this months contest.   :'(

But I will enter my 1922 era Bell Canada Porcelain Sign.

I bought from another Canadian Collector for $350.00 CDN or $281.72 USD

A discussion about this sign is posted at this link:

Thank you again John.

TelePlay

I would like to nominate Roody's 1896 Stromberg-Carlson Roman Column Candlestick that he found listed for sale for a whopping $99.95 in an ad placed by an out of state Pawn Shop that upon calling them, agreed to ship it to him for an additional $25. Not a bad price for a phone worth a gazillion dollars . . .  ;)

The phone appears to have the original receiver and is similar to 2 other SC candlesticks that are in the in the Top 50 Rarest Candlesticks which puts this one in the ball park of a really great find at that price.

A discussion of the phone is posted at this link:

I would like to nominate my 706 Field Trial telephone that I purchased on eBay.

The phone dates from 1963, the cost of UK£27 plus UK£9.50 shipping was actually for two phones, as the eBay listing contained two phones. I plan to sell the other one at some point.

Please see the following topic for more information:

The below link is the original eBay auction listing:

We like to be somewhat lenient here at the "Find of the Month" so I think November is still close enough. Decide if you want to run the 500 in January and then submit the sign next month or do you want to go with the sign this month?.

Sure Terry,

Let's do that, I'll reenter my 500 and run the sign next month. No wonder this is the place is the best. Everyone is so accommodating! :)

Thanks
