Until I read the write-up I thought that the photos might actually have been a C.A.D. or Photoshop product!
I never thought about having shoes to match my phones. Hmm...
Larry
I do... I have black shoes to wear with my black phones ?
Paint stripper, sandpaper and fresh paint will fix that up no problem... :D
Now wait a minute. While not by any means original paint, there was a lot of work that went into it. I kind of like it. Not enough to buy it, but someone put some time and energy into it, for sure.

I don't like it, but I recognize what's gone into it and I'm sure it'll appeal to
somebody.
I like it! A 302 for the ladies!
It's nicely done, and different, to be sure.
I'd like it better if it had the requisite Hello Kitty sticker on it, though! ;D
The gams also have great merit. ;)
I think its great!! Too bad it was metal '41 that was sacrificed, but I really think it it really cool.....Doug
If you would like a female opinion.....I don't care for the phone but the shoes are killer!!
Mo ;D
Well, it's still a well cared for 302 in great condition with a unique color scheme making this one of a kind extremely rare. That said, I like it but don't have a contemporary home finished with complementary colors in which to place that phone. I'm sure somebody will.
I hope the seller gets enough to cover the costs involved with all that was done to the phone, but I doubt it. But, I could be wrong.
I don't get the free expedited shipping though. Any thoughts on that offer?

Well, I guess that person set a bad example of Minnesotans. Not sure why they have shoes and a leg in the picture??

I believe that's called "marketing".
it was going for around $80 and the seller ended the auction and re-listed it. He bought a group of metal phones from me earlier in the year, I hope this isn't one of them, although it is an eye catcher!....Doug

Not sure how that is marketing...

It's the tools of the trade, show a little leg, a bit of swift side-boob and hey presto, items sell fast... :D
Though it's never worked for me, but then I don't think people like hairy legs like mine.... ;D

Check this Pre-WWII 302 out. An award to this guy for coming up with such an idea. He painted it Hot Neon Pink to match a . Check it out lol. You even get the Pink High Heel Shoes with it he based the paint color off of lolol.
You are too late ItalianAce! You have to get up pretty early to beat the CRPF to a story on ebaY. Doesn't look to be the same auction but it could be the same phone.
More importantly though, is it the same legs and same shoes!
Terry
The color scheme reminded me of Good & Plenty candy.

nice!! :D ;D
Itll make a nice phone for a little girls room (serious). Like if someone has a 8 year old girl thats into barbies and princess stuff as their room decoration...this phone would look nice on her deskstand for show. Also someone going for that 80s retro look on a 1940s phone thing; like having it sit next to your vintage film poster of "Howard The Duck" lol. I think the price is high though for a 302 (but thats just me).

...relisted with a BIN of $325! The scary part is if it sells for that price, then it validates the concept and encourages people to make more...

Liquorice torpedoes, bleugh!!!!! :o
I must admit I dont hate it. The idea is there and original especially for someone wanting a pre-war metal 302 but without the black paint. Its not for me of course (well Im a guy so of course not lol). But...I can see it appealing for someone or used a stage prop. However the price is high.

Ditto on the women's oppinion! It looks like a child's toy.
As far as the shoes, they need more rounded toes for me. ;D
Here's a legitimate IVORY 302 on eBay. I could wear my white belt...

Just resurfaced in a 10 day auction starting at $0.99 with no reserve, and a new view.

Stupid question: Can someone put up the same item in more than one auction at a time?
Quote from: TelePlay on April 11, 2013, 10:35:46 PMStupid question: Can someone put up the same item in more than one auction at a time?
Yes, they can, but if both sell, then they're up a certain creek that contains unpleasant matter... :D
I understand the "sex appeal" thing they are trying to market but (as a mom) if I wanted this phone for my teenager or pre-teen daughter's room (which it would be perfect for) I wouldn't buy it. Put it next to some fluffy pillows, a stuffed animal and some girly stuff in the background and it would sell.
The person that would buy it I would think is female. The whole sex appeal thing does not work here, not that I'm against it. I hope they sell before they think of some other weird pose! And, The shoes are too big!! lol
Mo
Agreed, this is for the ladies.
If the price is reasonable, I would happily buy this for my 11-year-old girl. I showed her the listing and she loved it, including the shoes! We both win, as I would be one step closer to satisfying MY desire to have a vintage phone in every room.
Ugh ... I hate when they "market" to the ladies. Its like the NFL now marketing to the ladies and selling 'pink' jerseys. A real 'FAN' would never, and I repeat, NEVER, buy a jersey or tee shirt of their team in anything but their team's true colors.
I could never buy a phone like this knowing that my dad never worked on a phone in this color! Just my opinion. I hate being "marketed" to. :'(

Are you sure this is not your ad? :o :o :o
Actually I talked to this person that "re-did" this phone and he had people begging for it. The guy that did this phone seems to be a pleasant person. That phone had a lot of hours in it. So I am told. I hate to see any 302 get it's date nailed by painting the inside, but apparently the phone was a basket case to begin with. Still, I see things go on Ebay and I scratch my head in disbelief. Opinions and horse races. The long shot always wins one of the days group of races.
At least he didn't screw up the dial. Everything else can be "fixed" with Krylon and new cords.
All of the pictures in this listing are blurred but it's the color and how it got that way that reminded me of this thread.

I can't believe it doesn't come with a pair of matching heels. As if. ;)
Best regards!

kind of Ironic since it actually turns my stomach ;D
great responses everyone~!
Looks like a 5-38 302 base (single hump) with a 5302 case and a curly cord on the F1 handset. Reversed network. Front and back feet don't match.
Listed as: Vintage Black 1960's Bell System Western Electric Rotary Telephone
www.ebay.com/itm/200959292509
What the heck. I bought it. BIN was $29.99.
Another 302, but with this one no one bothered to take the base off:
with a North handset
OK, lets see.... did oldphoneworks make this? (or could they?) absolutely cute color scheme. I'd say "Mix and Match" for this phone....
..... and the blue one is the same color as one of my WE464's, which was repainted a darker blue with black accents... these are fun to restore... though you do have to repaint them to a newer (and/Or) same color.... you just have to be careful what you do with it....
