Just bought a hard to find model of 302. A 406, lift plunger to talk or dial. It is pretty dirty but complete & original. I saw it on eBay, I knew it was a club member and referred to Terry's old eBay handles list to find the sellers email. I asked a few questions and we made a deal with out eBay! I am very excited, this is a model I have been looking for.

Harry ...really nice 306, should have H13 stamped on the shell.  Looks like it will clean up great...nice find....Doug

Could be a 302AC (H13 tel. Set mounting) or a 306G (H14) or a modified 307B.

However, the 306G has a tube and B3A polarized ringer. The 307B has a 104A induction coil. So most likely it's a 302AC.

I'm wondering what the intension for this kind of phone was? Why first lift up plunger to talk and dial versus a common operation by just lifting the handset?

Should have looked at  paul-f.com's page first, I found the explanation:

QuoteSingle line w/ plunger switch to avoid interference on extensions (or party lines). Lifting the left plunger activates talk and dial circuits. Cradle is marked, "LIFT PLUNGER TO DIAL OR TALK". Replacing the handset resets the switches.

I do recall that now. Some said others used it to listen in on their neighbors conversations.

A few years ago one of our Forum Members sold one for over $600. It was listed as a 306. I always thought they were a 306 and had H13 on the shell. I have been wrong before.  8)  David thinks it is a 302AA. I guess when Harry gets it we will know....Doug
