I got this a few months ago and finally gpt it open.  The phone keeps ringing like the handset is not present. Hookswitch goes up and down with no issue.

I bought Dial to to the leads in the last picture, nothing.

Handset appears to be fried

Any advice is appreciated....Doug

I tried Bringing a known good F1 and connected it to the proper connections and got NO dial tone and it still rang like there was no handset. I think it is more than just the handset....Doug

Hi Doug.
I don't know squat bout PF's.
There, the disclaimer.
Have you tried to put it on the line with another phone, and listen on the other phone
while rattling the hook on the pf?
Thinkin you shud hear clicks on the other phone rec.
Also, have you tried a batt across the rec contacts?
That shud definitely produce clicks on pf rec.
and, is there any chance, that that pf requires a coin before givin dial tone???

I brought DT directly to the handset, no go. It did connect it to my 616 but it just rings, I cannot dial out.

Replaced with a F1 directly to the connections inside the payphone and still NDT.

It is above me...thanks...Doug

A bad handset will not cause a modern paystation to not go off hook. The hookswitch of the jumper cable to the lower housing might be bad

Doug, here is your problem. LOL ;)
The warranty expired, and it went dead.
Really tho.
If I am readin it right, the 3 black switches plugged into "D" are micro switches.
They DO go bad.
You can chk them with a volt/ohm meter for correct operation.
Also, there is a "C", and a "D" with the same color plugs.
could it be the plug is on the wrong connecter?

Doug Rose

RB .....I tried both C & D with the same result. Something has blown out.

At least it still displays well and it does ring!...Doug

I forgot the pic. :-[
so much for humor.
Feel free to laugh at me. my kids do...
I am surprised the payphone wizards have not chimed in with the quick fix.???
I do not see much inside that phone.
wondering if something is needed to make it complete, and that is why you are havin so much trouble with it???

I'm only used to western parts, I've seen Mars coin units before, but not familiar with that chassis.
It sounds like it is maybe a wiring problem, but again that's a rework from somewhere.
Can you see a name on the chassis, the black thing on the right side of the phone?
Have you tried just the handset on a different phone? I would just to eliminate that first, then either wait for Jim or another who has worked on the newer stuff such as you have for help.

Handset does not work when isolated from the phone. A known working handset is not recognized by the phone. Phone just rings whether there is a working handset attached or not...Doug

Have you tried triggering the coin relay, make it think there's a coin present?
It probably won't work, but it's worth a shot. Other than changing the chassis, I don't know what to tell you.

If you can find a couple western parts, it will work again.
A 32 chassis and a compatible dial housing, your golden.
It would be worth more because it works as a regular phone.
