You can get very good synthetic watch oil on eBay for $10 an ounce including shipping (that's a lifetime supply for most people). It's not Moebius but it's close in quality and much less than Moebius.

Search eBay for "watch oil" to find sellers. This what I use. I take the needle spout off and use a thin wire to transfer small amounts from bottle to bearing point.

You're right but I never thought of buying any. On the other hand, yes I knew that this synthetic oil existed.
