I see your point, however, with a cell phone, one can pitch it pretty far when annoyed.  Concievably, you could skip your cell phone across water like a flat rock.  That would ease the tension.

I wouldn't slam down the receiver on that Pink Princess too hard........there may be some damage.  But the point is well taken.
