Post by: MaximRecoil on August 24, 2012, 12:09:23 AM
eBay auction link (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-1974-Rotary-Dial-Wall-Phone-A-B-554-Western-Electric-Black-NETWORK-1960-/330777890901?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d03e61055)
( dead link 01-12-22 )

From the description:

QuoteUp for Bid a vintage Black rotary dial wall phone made by Western Electric. Has a label dated 5-74 and A/B 554 under the Black cover on the metal, and also the same date 5-74 on the network # 425B and a date of  9-60 (see photo's). and the ringer works fine. There is a ringer volume control on the right bottom of the phone.

I guess it's a prototype of the Telepathic ringer, that they can only hear in their head... :D

Not only that, but just try to send the seller a message to point out his error. He has messages disabled.

I know I could hear it, if I could just get those voices in my head to shut up for 5 minutes.

I'd definitely be leaving negative feedback for this one. Especially since you can't contact the seller through messages.

I didn't have any problem sending him a message. Here is his response:

your 100% right never noticed
saved my bacon thanks has been revised
to just for parts and no mention of ringer,

However, the description still says that the ringer works fine
