I just noticed that!

I have no idea what someone would do about that dial bezel though...

Two tone? Did they even exist?
500s, yes. 5302, I don't think so. I personally would have hated the job of removing the paint, since it's polane. It's bad enough on a 500, but on a 5302, where the lines are much tighter and more angled than a 500.

Oh, and to be clear, I did buy the telephone. I personally think color 5302 are super cool and unusual. I feel like they never show up on ebay.

Very nice find!

I hope you have a good plan for the paint, though. Other than sanding, there isn't a very efficient way of removing the paint.

I would recommend 3M 120 grit to start off, if you do plan on sanding.

Christian,

Why do you think its polane? I thought they started using polane in the 70's; and the 5302 was probably made in the 50's/early 60's.

Well, not Polane, but a paint that's about 3 or 4 times tougher to remove than spray paint, probably epoxy-based.

True. I think its worth it though. How long did it take you to remove the paint off your color phones?

Anyhow, I'm not sure how rare beige 5302s are, but I'd assume they're worth maybe at least a few bucks.

It took me months, on and off, and I still have several phones that I'm sanding the paint off of that I started a year ago. It just takes patience, and when you start to get really sick of sanding, stop until you want to start again.
