yup that's the Siemens and Halske phone that I posted before

Here's another rather obscure keyset -- a Northern 567 Data Auxiliary Set, used to control early modems.

(Many early data sets were gray.  Hmmm we haven't seen a 503 yet.)

Ooooo!  Northern Electric round-button key sets had RED hold buttons at some point!  Cool!  I don't think Western Electric ever got to that, did they?  I do own a round-button ITT 6040 key with a red hold button, though.

IWO!  (I want one!)

[Edit] Oh, man, talk about Old Timers disease.  I totally knew Northern Electric made red round buttons.  I just took it down off the shelf, my 6040 key with a red round hold button is a Northern Electric, not ITT.

Good observation, Dave.  I don't recall seeing any red round hold buttons on WE sets, but haven't researched the subject.  Hopefully everyone will check their sets.

The NE 567 is dated 1967.

I have seen WE round-button keysets with a red hold button, but I can't say for sure that the red buttons are original to the sets.  Anyway, here's another very nice uncommon gray keyset -- NOS 1565HK (1964).

Off topic:  Here is a very unusual white keyset with a round red button-shaped insert.  It's a 543.  The red "button" is actually a message waiting light and does not depress.  The set was used in early hotel/motel systems.  A description and photo of a later set with square buttons can be found here:

So, we know WE had the round red part.  Does anyone have a set where it was used as a hold button?

I've added a list of the models posted so far in the first message.

Here's a Kellogg 500 with numbers only dial.

Don't overlook the 502 with G6 handset.  Admittedly, they're not very gray right now, but they will be when I finish with them!

PS: Paul, off-topic or not, your white 543 is a SUPER phone.  I love it!

Got it Dave.  Thanks for the quality check.

Here's one of my (many) favorite display phones.  Most visitors could care less, as it looks like many other 500s, but it gets the attention of 500-series variation collectors.

It's a 536 with coiled line cord.  I haven't heard of many out there.

Boy Paul, you have one terrific collection.  I have a few 532s, but have never run across a 536.  I have a Mahogany 500 with a coiled line cord.

Paul:

The little knob seems odd. Can you comment on it?

This is actually a "green'' phone. The manufacturer (Telefonbau und Normalzeit) calls is pastel green.

It probably looks strange because the light from the flash reflected in an odd manner.  Here's another view.

The knob is the same as was used on the more common 532.  They were basically cylindrical with a knurled end -- different than the knobs with flattened sides used on the 2-line sets (e.g. 510, 515).
