And the winner of Auction Contest #187 is WEBellSystemChristian who with the 2nd entry into the contest offered the winning guess of $69.99 which gave him his 7th auction contest win. So, congratulations to WEBellSystemChristian for another win in the CRPF Auction Contests and for moving up one rung in the Contest Standings.

If one would want to call an auction contest a dud, this would be the one to do so. The phone received only one bid the day it was listed and that was it. As such, the phone sold for the listing price, a somewhat high, in hindsight, starting point.

Thanks again to all who played. As always, there is only one way to get on the winner's board or move up a rung - you have to play to win. Maybe the next contest will be a bit more interesting.

It may have not sold for more than it did due to the fact that the handset may have been replaced with a newer one.  When did "BELL SYSTEM PROPERTY NOT FOR SALE" start appearing on the handsets?

Information on paul-f's web site

http://www.paul-f.com/weHandsetMountings.html (scroll down to the spacesavers)

shows a WE C Handset Mounting with an E1 handset and a WE G Handset Mounting with both an F1 and a G? handset.

So, a good question. Did the WE G mount come with the G1 only or the G1 and then a G3? The handset shown in the listing looks like a newer handset, like a G15A modular but with a hardwired handset cord. Who knows? So many questions.

The phone in the auction probably had an F-type handset originally, because the switchhook is black.
WE 211s originally had E-type handsets (1936), then F-type, then G-type (1957-1976+).
