I have had a lucky streak on new finds. This one cleaned up real nice, but I haven't been able identify the maker. There are some similarities to Manhattan and a few other makers but I haven't been able to find a match. Pictures to follow.
Thanks,
Gary Z.

Interesting phone, thanks for sharing.  Is it just me or does the shaft and base seem to be more finely tooled than the perch and transmitter?

GLOBAL MODERATOR POST

What has it been now, about one and a half years since Picasa pulled the the plug causing a great majority of informative posts placed by members withing the first 3 or 4 years of the forum to become toast, garbage, useless, meaningless or lost, to pick a few words used by members looking for something only to find text describing a fix or build or restoration but only that since all of the externally linked photos were no longer there?

And then there was Photobucket and it's malicious ransom grab for money, pay $100 a year to them to allow images posted on Photobucket to been seen in external links, about 9 months ago.

Some people have spent a very large, a huge amount of time trying to preserve the posterity of the forum as it goes forward by making sure members know that externally linked photos are 1) not wanted, 2) not allowed, and 3) strongly urging members post pictures as an attachment to a post.

This topic had 6 externally linked images. Someone took the time to down load the images and attach them to the topic so they would never be lost. The externally linked text (yes there was a lot of it and it takes only one character to change in any of those for the image to disappear) was disabled and marked with maroon italics to show 1) external linked images were used, 2) a moderator attached the images as should have been in the first place, and 3) the code was disabled to show the actual externally linking code in hopes that members would see the problem, see the fix and remember that images are to be attached to topics rather than using external links to avoid the Picasa and Photobucket type issues going forward.

This has been well discussed with 3 examples given of WHY NOT  to use externally linked images, EVER, when posting to the forum.

Where did the red code go? It was deleted from the original topic and posted below, as a reminder to new, and surprisingly seasoned members, not to use externally linked images.

That's what was up with that.

The bigger question is, why are members missing the point, don't use externally linked photos. And bigger still, anyone read this far?

Ouch! ..... point made and taken.

PLEASE post images directly to the forum, don't use externally linked images.

That was me-Gary had PM'd me about his pictures being sideways so I played around with different ways to fix them. :o

The candlestick is quite a find.  I don't think the rope cover on the shaft belongs - I would remove it and see what is underneath.  The stick is similar to a Automatic Direct, or maybe a Viaduct, but is clearly a very early candlestick.

Its a Holtzer Cabot stick also branded Illinois Electric or Detroit Electric.  The rope shaft is original to the phone. It looks in beautiful shape. What a find!

Wow Craig, sounds like you nailed it! No wonder you have the big trophy. When you say "also branded", is it the transmitter that did that? I haven't been able to find another transmitter like it.
Thanks,
Gary Z

Gary,

I would assume so but can't confirm.  You can see pictures on pg 74 of Knappens original scrapbook price guide and pg 1241 of Knappens new 3 volume set.

Sumter also used the HC stick but had a different hook.  I suspect yours is earlier.

Here's an ad for Kokomo Telephone - same candlestick.
