Pole changer ring generator, ID help needed

Except from what you may see at the pictures; It works at 12V DC and makes about 100V at around 20 Hz.

Very cool looking. How big is it?

The bottom plate is about 21x29cm  roughly 8.5" x 11,25"
It is heavy.
The capacitor has the numbers: 5242 I wonder if that means week 52 year 42.  They still used cotton insulation, huge capacitors, "coils" as resistors marble in installations. and the parts are galvanized, so it may be a sign of lack of materials (brass).
