I have a friend that has it hanging on his wall. I told him I'd try to find out what it belongs to. Do you recognize it?

I can only take a guess but this looks like a Pontiac sedan coupe 1941 bezel to me.

Bit of both- I had an idea what manufacturer it could be and what couldn't. And when I more or less knew what to look for, researched it online:
