This is the Second generation WE 302 made; short plungers short ears wood dial protector and the showstopper grate under the handset lift. H1 stamped inside on the back in vermillion.
Dated 7 37, July 1937. This phone is over EIGHTY THREE YEARS OLD!!
This is a metal set with original paint, shows wear but still looks good for its age.
Base and coil are marked 7 37, the ringer is dated 10 41
SOLID F1 handset is with the extra connection for the black wire. 9 13 37 on the transmitter cap. 6 37 on the transmitter element. Receiver element appears to be unmarked.
Vintage soft and pliable cloth cord handset cord. NO STATIC!!!
A black modular cord was added so you can plug in and talk!
Conversation is is loud and clear with NO static. Rings LOUD on incoming calls.
Original dial card is fantastic condition!

I remember as a teenager I messed with 2 different 302s that had a different kind of receiver capsule. Nobody seems to know what they were. Do you think they were non-WE non-Connecticut that just happened to fit?

Connecticut receiver capsules are much different than Western. They are not flat and has a deep fit in one corner. Transmitters are the same....Doug
