This is one of Jan's Brimfield finds, it was a 295BA rebooted to a 495BP. Four coats of paint, and I think it is Ash underneath. This was a LOT of work but I am pleased with the result. There were actually Brass Cowbells under this mess....it rings LOUD on incoming calls....Doug

Very nice!
How did you get it to look so clean?

Doug Rose

Citrus stripper let sit until it bubbles. Remove with medium steel wool. When clean use fine steel wool.  Polish the gongs with Brasso and a wire brush on a drill. Then Howard's clear restorafinish.

That's quite a transformation. Looks better, what are you going to do with the inside of the door? I see orange numbers, is that what Ma Bell put on?

Awesome.
I was with you up to the "Howard's"

Doug Rose

Howard's is the best thing. Does a fantastic job. I really like the light wood.

The door will remain black as it has the orange vermillion 495BP....Doug

Looks great Doug! Nice cleanup. Maybe a wiring diagram would look good on the top half inside the door? Just a thought.

It's kinda funny, how the paint will actually keep the wood in good condition, so when it's stripped off, it comes out so nice.
