Title: New To Forum - Ron Pond
Post by: Ron Pond on September 14, 2008, 08:33:39 AM
Hi guys,

Just thought I'd say g'day from down under.

Have just started collecting and restoring phones after a long absence during which I spent some years playing around with antique radios, among other things.

Just found a model AT38 candlestick + bell ( ringer )box, complete and unmolested in the cluttered store room of an old abandoned shop. This is one of Australia's first rotary dial phones and it took very little to get it up and running after who knows how many years.

Also recently picked up a Commonwealth of Australia Type 1 wall magneto phone, also complete ( Ericsson type AB535 ).

Both of these phones can be seen by googling the type numbers and description.

Looking forward to spending some time here.

Ron.

Welcome, Ron!
Any chance you might be able to post some photos of your phones? I can't say that I know much about the history of telephony in Australia or the phones used there...it would be interesting to see what you have!

I second that vote for pics of your phones!  Was reading an article on Australian phones the other day and it seemed like there was stuff from all over being used, as well as domestic made, correct me if I'm wrong.
