or replica, knock off, fake etc.

I bought it a couple of years ago. It was red, NOS and 20 euros so I thought what the h.

The pics of the ad were not very clear and when it arrived it appeared to be an immitation princess. Cheaply made, but strangely enough of the same name as the ITT/Kellogg copy.

Don't know where it was made. No markings on it, accept the transmitter and receiver say NYC.

Anybody know who made it and when?

There were refurbishers that assembled telephones to sell to customers from catalogs before you could legally connect them. The plastics were most likely ITT and the dial AE. I have seen these sets with induction coils from AE tyoe 40s in them .Possible Telephone Engineering, Simson PA or Telephone Repair and Supply Chicago

Thanks Rdelios. But I'm not sure that it is a refurb. Everything seems to be new and unused. Absolutely no signs of wear and tear, where you would expect that.

There are definitely others of those, (design wise,) I've seen a few on eBay, but they probably have the guts. Could that possibly a sailsman sample w/ out all of the workings?

Cinderella was ITT/Kellogg's Princess Clone, just as the Contessa was Northern Electric's as sold in the US.

The phone does have a network, located vertically in behind of the dial, and were sold without ringer, as were the early Princesses.

Was the plug attached to the line-cord originally attached by the factory? Could it have been manufactured by one of ITT's European subsidiaries such as FACE?
NYC is a Japanese abbreviation for telecom manufacturer Nakayo Electric. Their receiver and transmitter elements were used by major manufacturers such as Stromberg Carlson, ITT, Cortelco, TIE, etc. The receiver elements for ITT were often marked R7.

The phone pictured above is definitely NOT a ITT/Kellogg Cinderella.

Here's a bottom view of the ITT set, with appropriate model numbering.  it's a Princess clone -- even with a 701 model number.

I have seen sets like the one above with a "Metropolitan Teletronic" label on the bottom.  Obviously a cheap knock off.

The FACE version was physically different than both (bottom 2 photos).

Painted instead of Lucite plungers (as shared by NECo) seem to be a common trait.

Thanks guys! The plug that came with it is the white four pronged US plug. The black one that is on the line cord was put there by me, to connect it to my pbx.

The US plug just says Taiwan on it.

As to the ringer, I don´t seem to remember if there was one. I´ll have look later, and a better look at the dial mechanism.

Take a look at the model number of this one (from the box....) Too bad the manufacturer's sticker is missing from the base.

Oh right, I thought 701 might be the color number, but of course it is the model number.

The Cinderella stamp is orientated 180 degrees the other way. It has two circular boxes with the colors white and beige written next to it.

Sone of these had a "ringer"  that was made from a single coil from a SC ringer with a metal spring fastened to it.Another possible source for these was Fold-a-Phone in NYC.These sets were not telco sets but sold retail with no FCC approval to my knowledge
