Before posting ask yourself 3 questions.
It is true?
Is it relevant to the discussion?
Be kind.

The last one is the most important. I just try to be nice and kind in my posts. If I ever feel like something angers me, I let it go, smile and move on......

After all, as Doug says: It's a hobby, it's supposed to be fun!...

Russ, in keeping with the spirit of that last (3rd) directive, would you say something kind about me please? I need a pick-me-up! ;-)

Ray, you have an outstanding reputation for the finest quality work. All people have to say is it was done by Ray and they know it is a work of art.

Ray was likely one of the earlier chat buddies I had on the new fangled Internet about phones and more particularily, AE phones. I still recall him saying in an email to me that he had been looking into molding and casting and was going to attempt making NEW old coloured AE phones. This made my imagination run wild! I had no old coloured AE's then and I have now made it all the way to 7, two of which were made by Ray.

There are a few people who when they tell stories, I read very closely. Ray is one of those People!

That is very kind to say sir; thank you very much!
And just to inspire your curiosity Here is a list of AE that I am working on (but don't ask when they will be done! :)
AE #2
AE #4A (w/dial)
AE 47
AE Type 32 Subset (complete - as used with AE 1A)
AE 1 base (bakelite base for 1A that has surface-mounted dial instead of recessed)
AE Tall cradle (traditionally brass or cast zinc - mine will be plastic, but could be plated after casting)
AE 183 Spacemaker w/matching ringer cover (handsets are a (expletive deleted) to cast! - still working on it)

NOTE: after I get the handset (don't know the model #) done for the 183, I can then do maybe a CLEAR Model 90!

Now, all I have to do is get the ideas off of paper and onto the workbench!

Hi Ray,

Just a friendly suggestion for future projects.

WE 500 soft center clear finger wheels. These are always difficult to find.

For the WE 2500 collectors, the clear number covers.  I find myself always stealing from a loaner.

Just an idea.....

Guess the 10-button faceplates for 1500D sets still didn't make the cut????

Here's an idea--clear WE 1500 faceplates. They were molded in clear and backpainted, so making them in various colors would be extremely simple. I have passed on several really nice 1500s because they had smashed faceplates, and built a set and made a faceplate for it...with not-so-fantastic results.

Color matching wouldn't be a problem...I have the muted faceplates in every color, plus a color sensor to find the color code needed to order the paint.

EDIT...dangit, David got there before I clicked "post!". >:( ;)

Funny you should mention that David!

I have the 10-button faceplate of your's all laid up and ready for the pouring of the mold as we "speak"!  Was really trying to get some done by the Lancaster show.
