03-86 Unknown Phone (possibly a NE/WE Genie), or is it a Made in China phone?

Picked up this phone today at the ReStore for $5.00 CDN. Don't know the make or model name. Date on it is 03-86. NE/WE or Made in China? Any Ideas?

Similar to WE Sculptura, but in discussion with Doug,it is a lower profile, and I noticed it also has a fake rotary dial.

As Doug and I researched this, we discovered a few things. It is the ATC version of the Genie, as sold in phone stores, Model number TEIF8300. AT&T Genies are marked AT&T on the bottom and Genie - his has no markings on the bottom, but neither do the ATC Genies, but bears the ATC model number.

Cool, It even has a cup holder built in.

I could imagine some serious problems with that idea...

The Genie was originally made by DecoTel / American Telecommunications (ATC), which later merged into Comdial.

It was made in several countries during it's lifetime and distributed by many phone companies, including GTE, the Bell System and BT.

PTT in the Netherlands offered it too, under the name Wenen (Vienna). It was available during the 1980s and available in 3 colours, red, white and beige.

I'm not sure where it was made. Possibly Germany.

Thanks for pointing out the catalogue. I was looking for that, but was unable to find it... Appreciate your pointing out its location.

I can see a secretary sitting there wondering why the phone keeps disconnecting.
The cup holder would need a slight modification, MAYBE a hollowed out spot on the bottom of the cup.

...but then you have a coffee-soaked phone. Not so easy to design a premium phone, huh? ;)
